Vaishaka month celebration is observed with utmost importance in all Vaishnava temples including Guruvayur.

Vaisakha is a good month for charity. The most important of the Vaisakh gifts is water donation, similarly, making wayambalams and water pandals for the rest of the pilgrims who are tired after traveling and donating water to the pilgrims, chatram (umbrella), padukam (sandals), vyajanam (brush), annam (food), paryangam (bed) and blankets are given to the travelers. (blanket), offering cooling herbs such as karpuram, sandalwood, gorochanam and musk are also considered auspicious. The month of Vaisakha is in the grishma ritu (summer season).

Vaishaka Mahatmya of Skandapurana is available in Malayalam in the form of kilipatu. The method is to recite Vaishaka Mahatmya Kilipat completely in thirty days in the order of one chapter a day. Bhagavata Parayanam/Saptaham, Vishnu Purana Parayanam, bathing, Shraddha, Tar Panam etc. were also performed in rivers like Nila, Periyar, Pampa and other sacred places.
During this month when jackfruits and mangoes were plentiful, they were donated to passers-by and other needy people. Water donation and food donation were considered very auspicious during the month of Vaisakh, so Tanneer Panthals and wayside rest stops provided water, Sambhara and Patheya to comfort the travelers.
There were also holy shrines in Kerala where Vishnu temple darshan, fasting, Sahasranama japa and giving of alms were performed according to fate.
