Thrissur: The much-awaited Thrissur Pooram, one of Kerala’s most vibrant and iconic festivals, is set to unfold its grandeur on the 13th of April 2024. With a rich tapestry of rituals, processions, and festivities, the event promises to captivate spectators from far and wide.
The flagging ceremony, marking the commencement of the celebrations, will take place on the 13th of April 2024. The festivities will kick off with various participating temples showcasing their majestic elephants adorned in traditional finery. The procession will begin with Lalur leading from 8 AM to 8.15 AM, followed by Ayanthol (11 AM to 11.15 AM), Thiruvabadi (11.30 AM to 11.45 AM), Paramekkavu (12 PM to 12.15 PM), Chembukkav (6 PM to 6.15 PM), Panamukumpally (6.15 PM to 6.30 PM), Pookattikara (6.15 PM to 6.30 PM), Kanimangalam (6 PM to 6.15 PM), Churakkatkao (6.45 PM to 7 PM), and Neithalakkav (8 PM to 8.15 PM), each adding their unique charm to the spectacle.
A highlight of the event will be the sample fireworks display, providing a glimpse of the breathtaking pyrotechnics that will illuminate the night sky during the main event. These sample fireworks will occur at various times, including on April 17th, 2024, at 7 PM, and on April 20th, 2024, at 3 AM.
The South Side Opening on April 18th, 2024, at 10 AM, will mark the beginning of a series of cultural showcases, including the Elephant Grooming Show, providing a glimpse into the meticulous care and adornment of these revered animals.
On April 19th, 2024, the festivities will reach a crescendo with the Choru Pooram at 6 AM, followed by the ceremonial arrival at Math at 11 AM, and the Elanjithara Fair at 2 PM, offering visitors an array of cultural delights and traditional fare.
As the day progresses, anticipation will build for the much-awaited Kodamatam ceremony at 6 PM, symbolizing the culmination of months of meticulous planning and preparation.
The morning of April 20th, 2024, will be greeted with the resplendent sight of fireworks at 3 AM, ushering in a new day of celebrations. The full day’s festivities will commence at 6 AM, culminating in the solemn Separation on Upacharam ceremony at 12 noon, marking the end of yet another magnificent Thrissur Pooram.
