Thrissur: Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association State President G. Jayapal says that hotels are facing severe financial crisis as they are unable to find operational cost. There has been a price hike of fifty percent to over one hundred percent in the prices of all goods. He asked the government to take immediate steps to prevent price hike through strong market intervention.
Rules and regulations requiring the approval of the Pollution Control Board for renewal of licenses of small and medium hotels will eliminate small and medium hotels that serve food at affordable prices to the common man.
The responsibilities of waste management should be taken up by the local self-governing institutions and the government, and the waste management should be carried out efficiently without imposing it on the businesses.
He also demanded that the government should legally instruct the local self-governing bodies to establish public facilities by charging a user fee for waste management in small and medium-sized hotels.
