Guruvayur: West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose will dedicate the new Entrance gate on the east Nada of Guruvayur Temple on Sunday, July 7 at 7 am.

Vignesh Vijayakumar Menon, a native of Angadipuram, a non-resident businessman and head of the Wealth Eye Group of Companies, built the mukhamandapam and the footpath as an offering to the temple.  The new entrance has been built with the decorative beauty of the Kerala temple entrance architecture style.  The front porch has three domes molded in copper.

It is five and a half feet tall.  It is also rare to find such large domes on gopurams.  The domes were built by Mannar PK Rajapan Achari and his team.  About 93 kg of jaggery is required to fill the three domes.

Ashtadic Palakars, Brahma and dragon figures are beautifully carved on the anvil wood in the attic below the mukhamandapam.  This view can be seen if you stand directly below the mukhamandapam.  At the corner of the second floor are carved figures of dragons with clawed fists.  On the pillars of the mukhamandapam, we can see Sriguruvayurappan, Vennakannan and Dwarapalakar in square form.

On the East Nada of the temple, the footpath extends from Satrapadi to Apsara Junction and complements the mukhamandapam. The new pavement is rich in sculptural beauty. The pavement has twenty pillars.  Each pillar has Dashavatara and Krishna sculptures in cement.

Guruvayur Temple Sreekovil sculptor Elavalli Narayanan Achari’s son Elavalli Nandan was supported by Peruvallur Manikanthan, Souparnika Rajesh, Panthera Vineeth Kannan and a large team of sculptors to built such a walkway and facade through months of hard work.  The new pavement will be the same height as the existing pavement.

Under the supervision of Guruvayur Temple Tantri Chennas Dinesan Namboothiripad, Acharya Kanipayyur Krishnan prepared the outline for the renovation of the temple.  The foundation stone for the renovation works was laid on 15th April 2023.  Devaswom Engineers MK Ashok Kumar and Narayanan Unni supervised the construction of the pavement.

Vignesh Vijayakumar, CEO, Wealth Eye Group of Companies, said that he was happy to establish such a front porch and footpath in the main square of the Guruvayur temple, one of the most important Krishna temples in the country.  He said that the construction work did not stop with the dedication of Mukhamandapam and that he wanted to dedicate more sculptures and structures based on Sri Krishna Gatha to Guruvayur and plans were being prepared for the same.
