Guruvayur: In the case of more reported cases of dengue fever in some areas of Guruvayur municipality, the municipal health department and the health department jointly conducted source destruction activities as per the yoga decision held on Friday under the chairmanship of the municipality chairman M Krishnadas in connection with intensifying prevention activities.
About 100 volunteers from Asha and Kudumbashree Anganwadi areas have mobilized in the source reduction campaign in two wards of the municipality.
Divided into fourteen groups, each group entered the houses and flats in their designated areas and carried out awareness activities and indoor spraying. There will be further activities in the coming days. Dengue fever is transmitted by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes that bite during the day. They will spawn and multiply even in slightly wet areas. Guruvayur Municipal Corporation Chairman M Krishnadas informed that the public should be kept clean so that even a small drop of water does not remain standing in order to eliminate the breeding of such mosquitoes that grow in fresh water.
