Guruvayur: Devotees who come to Guruvayur have to stand in queue for hours to get darshan from Sri Guruvayurappan. It is a common sight on peak days for devotees would fill up the current queue and a long line of devotees will be extended till the South Nada Entrance.
In 2010, the land was acquired at East Nada for the construction of Que complex. Another governing body laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Que complex in the Sathram compound on the east side.
Later, the governing bodies that came from time to time came up with a plan to build a queue complex in six places such as Vayjayanthi Complex on the eastern side, the northern part of the Vayjayanthi Complex, Putheri Bungalow place, and Free Sathram on the southern side. But till date Que complex with modern facilities remains a dream in Guruvayur.
Even today, The Devaswom, which receives Rs. 7 crores in monthly treasury income, are seeing the devotees who come to get darshan from Lord, who see the Lord in makeshift sheds and suffering from rain and sun.
President TN Murali from Guruvayur Merchants Association, Lodge Owner Association President GK Prakashan, Chamber of Commerce President Muhammad Yasin, marked that the Governing Body of Guruvayur Devaswom should take an urgent decision to construct a queue complex with all facilities including cloak room, toilet, snack stalls.
Vyapari Vyavasayi Samithi President CD Johnson, Brothers Club President Balan Warnath, Advocate Ravi Chankath from Paithrikam Guruvayur, KK Govindadas from Drishya Guruvayur, P Gopalakashnan Nair from Rotary Club of Guruvayur Heritage and SNDP Guruvayur Union President Premanandan PS submitted a joint petition.
