Karpooradi Dravya Kalasam in Chowvallur Shiva Temple.

Guruvayoor: The 11-day-long Karpooradi Dravya Kalasha at Chowvallur Mahadeva Shiva Temple begins on Sunday evening with the ceremony of Acharya Varanam and Mulaydangal.

A number of Vedic scholars will participate in the ceremony under the leadership of Temple Tantri Keermundayur Neelakanthan Namboothiripad and Temple Uralan Keezhillam Krishnan Namboothiri. Tantric ceremonies are held daily from 6 am to 10.30 am and from 5 pm to 8.30 pm. Officials also informed that Ashtabandhakriya which will be held in the early morning of Sunday on 16th, Tattvakalasam for Goddess Shri Parvati and Karpooradi Dravya Kalasabhishekam which will be held on 19th are the most important darshan ceremonies.

As part of the remedial rituals for the Ashtamangala deva problem conducted in April 2023, the Panchaloham idol of Mahadev has been molded and damaged, Shuddhi, Rigveda Japam, Mrityunjaya Homam, Pretha Aavahanam, Sayujya Pooja, foot washing, Chatushtham and Serpabali have all already been done.

The Karpooradi dravyakalasha which is going on now is a part of the remedial works. Before this, a similar incident took place in 2001. Ahead of the kalasha, various cleaning and reconstruction work of the two-tiered Vatashree Kovil has already been done. 50 lakhs has been estimated for Karpooradi dredging and reconstruction works.Every day there will be Ashtapadi, Narayaniya Purana Parayanam, Bhagavathy Seva, Vishnu Lalita Sahasranama Japam, Nagaswaram, Kombupat Kuzhalpat and various artistic performances. Temple Committee President NK Balakrishnan, Secretary C Haridas, Treasurer E Prabhakaran, Secretary P Prakash, Executive Member K Unnikrishnan informed in the press conference.
